Problem
REPresent, a curated collection of works by composers traditionally marginalized in Classical music—such as women and people of color—needed a distinct visual identity. The brand required a logo that would reflect its mission of representation, inclusivity, and scholarly rigor, while also signaling its specific focus on the French horn repertoire.
Methodology
To distill the brand’s mission, I explored the core takeaway: REPresent is both a resource and an act of advocacy—amplifying underrepresented voices in the classical canon. The logo needed to balance a timeless, academic tone with a modern simplicity, creating a visual metaphor for rediscovery and continual inclusion. I drew on visual elements that could subtly reference the French horn’s form without overwhelming the brand’s clean, scholarly aesthetic.
Solution
The final minimal logo integrates elegant typography with a subtle nod to the French horn’s distinctive curves. This design communicates focus, inclusivity, and sophistication while remaining adaptable for both digital and print use. Its simplicity allows the brand’s mission to remain front and center, while its nuanced form ties directly to the instrument at the heart of the collection.
